LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

About Lynne

“My approach to supervision is holistic and nurturing.”

Greetings! I am Lynne White Dixon, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, MSW Clinical Supervisor, and Therapist based in Monterey, California. I earned my B.A Degree in Psychology/Social Work and later pursued my Masters in Social Work from The University of Chicago. With over 40 years of experience as a therapist and supervisor, my expertise encompasses attachment and trauma in children, youth, and adults; clinical nuances in adoption and permanency; and clinical supervision. Additionally, I serve as an Adjunct Faculty with the Social Work Department at California State University Monterey Bay.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse settings, including public mental health, sexual assault services, child welfare, college mental health, and private practice. A significant passion of mine has been the development and training of mental health professionals from the BIPOC community, with a particular emphasis on the African American/Black community. I firmly believe that increasing the number of skilled mental health therapists of color in BIPOC communities can diminish the stigma associated with mental health and enhance accessibility to services, especially in the Black community.

At KCW Psychological Services, I offer clinical supervision for MSWs and other mental health disciplines aiming for licensure in California. My approach to supervision is holistic and nurturing. While I provide knowledge and support to my Pre-Clinical Licensed Therapists (PCLTs), I also challenge them to venture beyond their comfort zones, fostering growth in their clinical skills. My supervision style promotes self-awareness, addressing countertransference and bias in a non-judgmental environment. I maintain an open, relaxed demeanor, incorporating humor when apt. Pre-Clinical Licensed Therapists (PCLTs) under my guidance are encouraged to articulate their professional aspirations, and together, we work towards their realization.

Fun Facts:

  • My backyard garden is my sanctuary, where I cultivate flowers and vegetables.
  • Cherished moments are those spent with my grandchildren.
  • I find solace in listening to audible books and taking rejuvenating walks along the Monterey oceanfront.

I provide supervision to a diverse clientele, including individuals from BIPOC (e.g., Black, African American, Hispanic, Latinx, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, etc.), POC, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized underrepresented communities in the mental health sector in California. Additionally, I extend my services to those who might not identify with these communities but stand as allies.

I offer supervision to MSWs and other mental health disciplines in various Californian cities, including:

Los Angeles, Carson, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hawthorne, Gardena, Long Beach, Compton, Inglewood, Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw, View Park-Windsor Hills, Ladera Heights, Culver City, Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Westchester, Burbank, East Los Angeles, Lancaster, Riverside, Moreno Valley, Palmdale, San Bernardino, San Diego, Fresno, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, East Bay Area, Haywood, Vallejo, Palo Alto, Davis, Stanford, Stockton, Menlo Park, San Francisco, Elk Grove, Brentwood, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Berkeley, and Chico.
