Hello! I’m Kenya Smith, a doctorally-prepared Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and I am a proud native of Los Angeles. I completed my undergraduate education at Howard University in Washington, DC where I earned my Bachelor’s of Nursing degree. After working in several nursing areas, I decided to return to school to advance my career in nursing and become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

I completed my Masters of Nursing degree in 2013 and I’ve now been working as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for ten years. I consider myself a life long learner and earned my Doctor of Nursing degree in 2020. My psychiatric specialties include psychiatric management of mild to moderate mental health concerns. Additionally, I’m studying to become certified to treat psychiatric conditions across the lifespan, substance use disorders, advanced treatment of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Integrative Mental Health, and Lifestyle Medicine.

In addition to treating clients, I am an Assistant Professor within the Mervyn M. Dymally College of Nursing at Charles R. Drew University of Science and Nursing. I have worked at the Los Angeles LGBT Community and other Non-profit mental health agencies throughout the Los Angeles area. I have also worked in the private practice setting.

I treat clients who identify as members of the BIPOC community (Black, African American, Hispanic, Latinx, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander…etc) and the LGBTQ+ community. I also treat patients who may not identify within these communities but are allies to those who do as well.

I provide psychotropic medication and medication management services to clients/patients in the following cities and towns in California:

Los Angeles, Carson, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hawthorne, Gardena, Long Beach, Compton, Inglewood, Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw, View Park-Windsor Hills, Ladera Heights, Culver City, Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Westchester, Burbank, East Los Angeles, Lancaster, Riverside, Moreno Valley, Palmdale, San Bernardino, San Diego, Fresno, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, East Bay Area, Haywood, Vallejo, Palo Alto, Davis, Stanford, Stockton, Menlo Park, San Francisco, Elk Grove, Brentwood, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Berkeley, and Chico.

I am also eager to serve clients from other towns, cities, and counties within California as well.
