About Emma
“I aim to provide high quality mental health care and empowerment to help individuals within the BIPOC community and their Allies reach their full potential”
Hi there! I am Emma C Ramos, a bilingual (English & Spanish) Associate Marriage and Family therapist in California. I earned my Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from East Los Angeles College and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University Dominguez Hills where I found a passion in exploring more about the mind-body connection that affects our emotional wellbeing. I earned my Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. I completed my year-long practicum at Five Acres within their community-based specialty program where I provided a wide variety of mental health services for young children/ teens and their families. In addition, I gathered experience working with a wide range of populations including community-based services,
foster care, adoptions, and monolingual spanish-speaking families/parents.
As a first generation Mexican-American woman and therapist, my mission is to destigmatize mental illness within our ethnically diverse communities through a safe and non-judgemental environment. I understand the complexity that comes with being a person of color navigating through the mental health system, which is why I intend to integrate a cultural awareness and sensitivity approach. I aim to meet clients where they are and to apply interventions at their own pace.
My therapeutic approach is a blend of different modalities, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy, culture-sensitive therapy, trauma-informed therapy, and inner child work. These techniques help clients develop a mental health toolbox filled with healthy coping skills such as relaxation techniques, worksheets, journaling, art, and exercise. I work with clients to navigate challenges like stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, and life transitions.
Additionally, I offer individual therapy for parents of children with disabilities, as well as support for mothers experiencing baby blues or postpartum depression. My goal is to empower clients in creating a healthy, meaningful life by utilizing their strengths to reach their full potential.
